Visiting Celebrity Dairy
Celebrity Dairy is "kid friendly" - so much so that one year we had over a thousand school children visit the dairy. As the dairy has grown, our ability to host tour groups has diminished. To keep the dairy accessible, we've come up with the following: We offer Celebrity Dairy "Open Barn" days - we host three "Open Barn" afternoons each year at the beginning and end of our cheesemaking season - when we have a standing invitation to anybody interested to come visit - rain or shine. If you're in the neighborhood at milking time (typically starting around 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM), you're invited to simply stop by and watch. The goats love extra hands to scratch their ears.
Opening the year - February is the peak of kidding season. The Saturday and Sunday of the weekend of Feburary 11th and 12th, 2012 we will be having our Open Barn we will also have an Open Barn on March 10th and 11th, 2012. We will be asking for a $10.00 donation per carload to go to the Heifer Foundation.
In the spirit of a true Open Barn all of our activities will be outdoors this year. There will be a bonfire to warm you up and lovely house made goodies to purchase during the hours of 12-3pm. Remember to dress warmly and wear "outside" shoes. Bring your cameras because there are lots of new baby "celebrities" to ooh and aah over. We look forward to your visit.
Please be bring CASH ONLY, Thank you!

Closing the year - November brings the end of the goats' lactation, and of cheesemaking, and so gives us more time to visit friends. The Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend 1:00-5:00 PM is our fall open barn day. By then the year's kids have grown into teenagers, and the does are in mid-late gestation.
